About Baseball & Softball
It all started on the field. Two scruffy baseball diamonds emerged from an abandoned lot, kids showed up to play ball, and the rest is history. Then we grew. We added another season, academic programming, and even a school. But our love for the game remains the same.
On the field, it’s not all about hitting home runs or turning double plays. It’s about teamwork, resilience, and heart. In baseball, the best players fail seven out of ten times when they step up to the plate. That’s a lot for a kid to handle. But failure is a part of life, and is essential to growth. With a dugout full of cheering teammates and supportive coaches on the sidelines, our kids are ready for any curve that’s thrown their way.
A Field of Dreams in the South Bronx
When we first arrived in the South Bronx in 2013, our kids were playing on a concrete lot painted like a baseball diamond. But they deserved more.
With the help of the South Bronx community and our incredible supporters, we cut the ribbon and officially opened our Patterson Field of Dreams in July 2017.
Every neighborhood deserves a safe place for kids to play. We look forward to seeing South Bronx kids play, learn, and grow on this field for many years to come.

Growing Successful Student-Athletes
The Urban Youth Academy provides high school baseball players with the tools they need to succeed athletically and academically as collegiate players. Through rigorous athletic training and educational support, we prepare our student-athletes to be leaders on the baseball field and in their communities. Student-athletes compete in local, regional, and national tournaments and gain exposure to college coaches and professional scouts.
Interested in joining the Urban Youth Academy?
The program is open to high school age student-athletes living in East Harlem and the South Bronx. All interested student-athletes will participate in a rigorous try-out process on a rolling basis. The program is based in East Harlem, and games and practices will be at Roberto Clemente State Park in the South Bronx.
