This year, you choose whether remote or hybrid instruction is right for your scholar. And along the way, we’re supporting DREAM families with technology, food distribution, regular check-ins, and more. Learn more.
Middle School Overview
DREAM is a different kind of school. Middle school scholars prepare to successfully matriculate to high school and, someday, high-performing colleges and careers. But that isn’t all. If you’ve been searching for a school where your child is seen, known, and loved; where they’re more than just test scores; where you’re an equal partner in their education: Welcome home.
Be a part of our founding Mott Haven Middle School class. We’re now enrolling sixth graders for Fall 2021.

Curriculum
Middle school is broken down into ten Thematic Units such as “Perspectives,” “Identity,” and “Citizenship,” which serve as a consistent thread that is integrated into all academic subjects and school gatherings.
DREAM’s curriculum ensures rigorous instruction that teaches children to think critically and imaginatively. Subjects include:
- English Language Arts
- Math
- Science
- Social studies & Debate
- Advisory
- Physical Education
- Electives: Art and Music
DREAM scholars have outperformed the district, city and state in New York State tests for four years running.
Extracurricular activities
DreamBuilders is an optional after-school enrichment program for middle school scholars, which involves academic support, teambuilding activities, service-learning projects, and health and wellness activities. Scholars enrolled in the program also get the opportunity to participate in a variety of enrichment activities, such as creative arts, DJing, cooking, peer-to-peer mentoring, and DREAM sports teams. While enrolled in the program, scholars attend a variety of field trips hosted during school breaks.
All middle school scholars participate in DREAM University, a four-week summer program held at Manhattan College, designed to provide scholars with an authentic collegiate experience. Students engage in academic instruction, along with enrichment clubs and intramurals. On Fridays, scholars travel off-campus for day-long cultural field trips in the New York City area.
